STUDENT VISA PROCESS

Process to obtain Cypriot Student Visa for international students

Nationals of any country coming to Cyprus for studies must receive student’s permit through the Migration Officer, Nicosia prior to arrival. Applications should be submitted by the directors of the schools.

The visa process time for Cyprus may be up to 1 month. Therefore, students are requested to apply 2-3 months prior to the date of enrollment for study.

Application to
In person to the Consulate (or Consular section at Embassy or High Commission).

Application requirements:

  • Passport with at least 1 year validity
  • Photocopy of Passport
  • One completed application form.
  • 4 Passport sized photographs
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover duration of stay.
  • Attested original academic certificates
  • Certificate of Good conduct from police department in Applicant’s home country or country of residence issued not before 6 months
  • Financial documents to show; students can meet all the costs of living and fees while studying in Cyprus
  • Fee (payable by cash or postal order only, subject to rate of exchange). For students, a letter from the applicant’s place of education is required.

The visa cost for students intending to study in Cyprus will be Pound Sterling £20.

FINANCIAL AIDS

Scholarships and Financial aid available for International Students in Cyprus

The objective of the Financial Aid Program at universities/colleges of Cyprus is to provide financial assistance to students who need aid in order to begin or complete their studies in Cyprus.

Need Grants are awarded to students and are based mainly on substantial financial need, regardless of academic performance. The amount of the grant provided depends upon the student’s need for assistance, but grants usually amount to less than one third of the tuition and fees of the semester. Students interested in this type of grant must complete the “Financial Aid Application Form” and submit it to the respective department of universities/colleges.

It must be noted, however, that the funds for Financial Aid are provided by universities/colleges and are limited. Students and their families are expected to finance their education and Financial Aid should be considered only as supplemental assistance.

LIVING COST IN CYPRUS

Living Cost for International Students in Cyprus

Off-Campus Accommodation
The private apartments are generally situated in quiet neighbourhoods just off the universities/colleges. The buildings mostly have one and two bedroom apartments designed to provide privacy and independence to students. Each apartment has its own living and dining area, kitchen and bathroom, which are fully furnished with single beds, desks, book shelves, chest of drawers, wardrobes, dining table & chairs. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, oven and a refrigerator. All apartments have controlled heating and air conditioning units.

Cost of living in off campus living for 12 months generally ranges from € 3,000 to € 5,000.

Private Accommodation
If you do not want to live in the universities/colleges housing units you can apply to the Office of Student Affairs for listings of houses located in nearby areas. Such housing can only be arranged when you will already be in Cyprus. The cost of a furnished apartment can range from €400 to €500 per month. You will need to sign a 12-month contract and in addition to the monthly rent there will be added charges for water, electricity and telephone expenses.

Furnishing
The Office of Student Affairs can assist and direct students who need to purchase or rent furniture for their new house.

Roommate Request List
The Office of Student Affairs maintains a file where students register for a roommate. All housing services and the roommate request list are updated throughout the year in order to provide round the year service to our students.
